Israel supports agriculture and renewable energy technology in Nicaragua

 

photo of people on a croplandENERGIA LIMPIA XXI.During his recent visit to Managua last May, the Ambassador of Israel in Nicaragua, Amir Ofek, met with authorities of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) to address mechanisms of cooperation in technological cooperation to promote systems of Irrigation with solar technology and other alternatives in which Israel has a high development and world leadership.

A report carried by Energía Limpia XXI states that Israel, more than three decades ago, was key in the promotion of one of the first geothermal generation plants in Central America Nicaragua with the firm ORMAT, which also supported several important studies on this subject.

The Israeli Ambassador thanked the host, showed great interest in moving forward in the work to evaluate proposals and organize next visit to the land of lakes and volcanoes. Both delegations addressed mechanisms for advising on irrigation technologies, strengthening human resources capacities through studies and technological exchange, crop diversification and investments.
