Un sitio dedicado a la promoción de la energía renovable en Nicaragua y el mundo.
Nicaragua is the first Central American country to use bio-digesters to generate clean energy. This a collection of processes by which microorganisms break down biodegradable material in the absence of oxygen. The process is used for industrial or domestic purposes to manage waste and/or to produce fuels. The Nicaragua Biogas Development Program inaugurated last month is valued at more than $ 6 million, and will benefit 6,000 small farmers in the municipalities of Boaco, Chontales, León, Matagalpa, Nueva Guinea and Rio San Juan.
Energy efficiency and ecostoves
The Nicaragua Energy Efficiency Program promoted by the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) is continuing to grow. The PROLEÑA company is promoting use of eco-stoves to help save money and reduce carbon pollution in rural areas. Leonardo Mayorga, creator of these eco- friendly stoves, said the change is significant because it reduces the use of wood and charcoal through application of a simple, economic and clean technology.
