Un sitio dedicado a la promoción de la energía renovable en Nicaragua y el mundo.
The Ministry of Energy and Mines and the Alliance of Energy and the Environment of Central America (AEA), inaugurated a dry fish processing plant in the municipality of León. The project includes installation of solar panels, technical training as well as a reforestation and recycling of solid waste program. Recently, similar projects have been inaugurated in Chinandega department with support from AEA and funds from Finland, Austria and the European Union. Nicaragua has been the main recipient of eco- friendly projects that AEA have implemented in Central America over the past 10 years.
More use of renewable energy
Small renewable energy projects are on the rise in rural areas and especially among small and medium businesses (SMES). The Nicaragua government, in coordination with multilateral agencies, is offering favorable financing through the “MYPIMES VERDES” project. The Regional Program Coordinator of the Energy and Environment Partnership with Central America (AEA), Salvador Rivas, said this initiative helps to generate more income, improve quality of life and reduces pollution. During the last two months AEA has opened three projects in the Nicaragua departments of León, Chinandega and Masaya to promote use of solar energy and biogas in production activities.
