Nicaragua : Biogas and solar projects alternatives to lower production cost
Eco-friendly alternatives to generate energy and reduce production costs are being implemented by businesses in Nicaragua. The San Martin Slaughterhouse, one of the largest in Nicaragua, announced the building of a Bio-digester plant in Granada Department to generate biogas and cover 100% of its energy bill. Agrinz Technologies of Austria; Bio-power from Canada; and Nicaragua Green Clean Development Projects, are in charge of the design and construction of the plant.
Promoting solar energy
Presidential Delegate for Investments, Alvaro Baltodano, said Nicaragua is implementing efforts to reduce energy cost and attract more investments to the Free Trade Zones. He added that energy generators, distributors and manufacturers of solar panels are exploring competitive alternatives to lower energy bill. “Solar energy is a clean and efficient alternative. We are encouraged by the successful experience of the Astro Nicaragua company that will generate 3 MW of energy using solar panels”, Baltodano said.
