The Nicaragua Vice-Minister for Cooperation, Valdrack Jaentschke and India Deputy Minister for Latin America, Ramachandran Swaminatha, met in Managua to discuss the bilateral agenda. During a tour of an energy project site financed with support from India, Vice Minister Swaminatha, said this visit represents a new stage in bilateral relations because it strengthens the political, economic, commercial areas and particularly the renewable energy sector.
India has cooperated with $38 million dollars for electrification and renewable energy projects in Nicaragua. Recently, an additional $36 million dollars were approved to support the transformation of the national energy matrix using renewable sources.
According to Bloomberg Energy, between 2006 y 2013 India has invested over 67 billion dollars in renewable energy projects and is one of the most developed countries in terms of this technology.
