Nicaragua is promoting a $4 billion dollar investment plan to develop its 5000 MW potential in biomass, geothermal, hydro, wind and solar energy sources.
Nicaragua is closing 2014 with important agreements to promote greater development of clean energy sources. An agreement was signed with India to strengthen the national electrical transmission network and another with Brazil to build the Tumarin and Boboque (323MW) hydroelectric plants. Recently Iceland, world leader in geothermal technology and one of the few that has achieved the goal of being 100% renewable, agreed to collaborate with Nicaragua in the development of its geothermal energy potential.
