
China has set its eyes on Abengoa, because of its size and its pressing need to reduce environmental contamination, the red nation continues to expand its solar energy market like no other country.
CLEAN ENERGY XXI. Abengoa (MCE: ABG / P: SM), an international company that applies innovative technological solutions for sustainable development in the infrastructure, energy and water sectors, has recently been selected to supply the technology and engineering of two solar thermal projects in the People’s Republic of China
The first one, which is carried out for the SEPCO III company, Electric Power Construction Corporation, consists of the supply of technology and the development of the project engineering of the 50 MW molten salt tower thermosolar plant Luneng Haixi State, in Qinghai Province, as well as in technical support during construction.
This project is part of the renewable energy program launched by the Chinese government with the objective of reaching an installed solar thermal base of at least 27 GW in 2030. The developer LuNeng Group is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the State Grid Corporation of China, which is focuses on the real estate and energy sectors since 2002.
On the other hand, Abengoa will be responsible for the supply of the technology of the new generation E2 collector, the development of engineering and technical support for the Royal Tech Yumen project, a 50 MW parabolic trough thermosolar plant, to be located in the province of Gansu. This project is carried out for SRT (Shuangliang Royal Tech CSP Technology Co., Ltd), a company dedicated to research and promotion of concentrating solar thermal technology, and is part of the solar thermal demonstration program launched by the Chinese government, which is being deploying through the development of a first batch of 20 projects with 1.35 GW.
Abengoa, a world leader in solar technologies with an installed base of 2.3 GW, has extensive experience in the solar thermal sector worldwide, having built and developed solar plants on four continents. On the other hand, it also has a presence in China where it has designed, built and put into operation a water desalination plant in the coastal city of Qingdao.
