Un sitio dedicado a la promoción de la energía renovable en Nicaragua y el mundo.
More than 700 women have been benefited from efficient stoves made in Nicaragua by the Women Solar Project Foundation (FUPROSOMUNIC). The initiative was born in Nicaragua in 2004 with support from the Swiss government and has benefited hundreds of women in poor communities in Rivas, Leon, Masaya and other municipalities throughout the country.
New challenges
FUPROSOMUNIC efforts were recognized by the Energy Globe Foundation which granted them the International Energy Globe Award, which rewards projects that make significant and revolutionary use of renewable sources to improve people’s life. The recognition has motivated them to continue their fight against deforestation by promoting the use of clean energy sources and creating jobs. The Deputy Coordinator of FUPROSOMUNIC, Marta Rocha, said they hope to continue training and empowering more women to expand this positive project that reduces pollution and promote sustainable development.
