During the launching of the Latin American Decade of Clean Energy held in Chile, the United Nations Special Representative for the Sustainable Energy for All Initiative (SE4ALL), Kandeh Yumkella, highlighted Nicaragua’s successes in the transformation of its energy matrix through greater use of renewable natural resources.
“Universal access to energy reduces poverty and inequality that is also a way to promote democracy”, Yumkella said. Nicaragua is signatory to the United Nations SE4ALL Initiative and the Nicaragua Minister of Energy and Mines, Emilio Rappaccioli, is a member of the Advisory Board of this important international initiative.
