Brazil promotes more solar energy: Copel first solar plant a success model


ENERGIA LIMPIA XXI. Solar energy in Brazil is shinning bright. Copel’s first solar plant, under construction in the municipality of Bandeirantes, in the north of the state, is receiving the final part of the photovoltaic structures and modules.The Bandeirantes project is implemented in partnership with Sistechne participações. The segment has been growing in Brazil. Today, distributed solar generation assets with around 2.5 gigawatts in capacity are in operation in the country, according to data from the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel), against about 1 gigawatt in June last year.

“We are satisfied with the progress of the project and are proud to implement this new product, which is now available to commercial and industrial customers who wish to save energy”, highlights the superintendent of Copel’s Business Development Director, Ricardo Rothstein.
